There are neighbors, and then there are neighbors. A few floors up from Midnatt’s Stockholm showroom, you’ll find the wonderful flat of entrepreneur couple Elin Carlsten, Kristoffer Lönnström and their two children. Or, to be precise, you did before the summer. As of this writing, they have packed up their belongings for a new adventure in Mallorca.

Or, to be precise, you did before the summer. As of this writing, they have packed up their belongings for a new adventure in Mallorca.
Before their departure, we had the opportunity to visit their modern lullaby of a home. As they prepare for this new chapter, their residence reflects their personal style and the dynamic lifestyle they have always cultivated as a couple. And as a family.
Our house:
A two-bedroom apartment in Kungsholmen, Stockholm.
We live here:
Elin, Kristoffer and our kids Märta, 11, and Ralf, 9.
What we do:
Elin: architect. Kristoffer: founder of an Ad agency.
Tuesday evening ends at:
We are aiming for 10 PM, but life usually throws in a curveball. Whether it’s a work crisis, kids in need of wisdom, or just the day deciding it’s not quite over, lights typically go out around midnight.
Before turning out the lights, you always:
Do a quick scan through emails, a scroll through the latest headlines, and a goodnight kiss. It’s a modern lullaby.
Who/what are sharing your bed:
The real question is, what doesn’t? AirPods, half-read books, rogue blankets, random clothes and, of course, the occasional small human or two.
Normally you sleep in:
Elin loves a cozy pajama set. Kristoffer? A pair of boxers does the trick. And yes, we still share a double duvet, which our friends think is borderline madness.
The last dream you remember:
Probably something involving stacks and suitcases. After all, life’s been one big packing adventure as we gear up for the big move to Palma.
On your night stand we will probably find:
Kristoffer has Peter Hammarbäck’s brilliant debut novel, “Zoo-pojken,” while Elin’s nightstand is a mix of project sketches and that obligatory half-full glass of water.
Your best tip for a good night sleep would be:
Resist the siren call of the couch! Also, go to bed as friends—because even the tiniest unresolved issues can feel like giant monsters in the dark.
Your evening beauty routine includes:
For Elin, it’s all about foot cream—pampered feet, happy sleep! Kristoffer sticks to the basics: brushing teeth and downing a glass of ice-cold water.

This keeps you sleepless at night:
Those tiny tasks that suddenly feel enormous in the dark: unwritten emails, unpaid invoices, and the world’s weightiest thoughts that love to visit at 2 AM.
Instead of counting sheep you:
Elin’s secret is bundling up and tuning into Agnes Wold’s podcast. Kristoffer? He usually drifts off mid-thought, no sheep necessary. He dreams up an exciting plot on the way to the pillow, but never gets to enjoy it—he’s asleep before his head even touches down.
The best thing about your bedroom :
It’s blackout heaven, even during summer’s brightest nights. Plus, the soothing hum of cars on Norr Mälarstrand—reminding you that the world keeps spinning, even when you’re counting sheep. And when the blinds go up in the morning, it’s all about harmony. As we switched bedrooms with the kids, the childish color scheme had to be replaced with a more adult one – and just like a small decent hotel room, it needs to be practical to be able to work. Hence, the divided old door.
Your best midnight snack:
Tea, a slice of well-aged cheese on crispbread, and maybe a cheeky glass of red wine. Midnight indulgence, done right.
Tuesday morning starts at:
6:30 AM. Whether we like it or not.
Your alarm sounds like:
Angels—if angels were slightly less ethereal and more about getting you out of bed.
The first thing you see when you open your eyes are:
Absolutely nothing. It’s pitch black—blessed darkness.
Your morning mood could be described as:
Kristoffer wakes up like a curious puppy, ready to make coffee. Elin? A bit grumpy, but she’s all smiles once that coffee aroma kicks in.
A normal breakfast would be like:
Kristoffer’s got cheese on bread and juice. Elin? Five cups of coffee and some Greek yogurt with granola to balance out the caffeine.
Your birthday breakfast should be like:
Elin dreams of avocado toast with perfect scrambled eggs, while Kristoffer is all about smoked swordfish with cucumber and lemon. A nod to our honeymoon breakfast—pure bliss on a plate.
Your morning beauty routine includes:
Kristoffer’s hair routine could fill a novel—shampoo, conditioner, salt spray, and finishing gum galore. Elin’s routine? Just something to combat those pesky puffy eyes.
A dreamy weekend morning could be like:
Staying in bed until noon, followed by a decadent breakfast with homemade bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, and crispy bacon. The rest of the day? Fun plans with the kids.
My dos and don’ts when making the bed:
Here is where the double duvet actually comes in handy – just shake it a bit and throw it on top of the bed – and you’re done.
And about collecting houses—spill the beans!
We’ve got a knack for turning old, worn-down properties into cozy vacation retreats. Currently, we’re proud owners of a woodland hideaway in Sörmland, a cluster of seaside cottages outside Oxelösund, and a 200-year-old ”härbre”near the mountains in Vemdalen. Our next dream? Converting something exciting in the Balearic Islands as we settle into our new life in Palma de Mallorca. Check out our housing adventures at vistecollection.se!
